Dorothy and I have been gearing up for the Spring classes and workshops – knitting our samples and getting all of our ducks in a row!
Our new class projects have interesting cast-ons, cables, travelling and twisted stitches and lace. Some of the finishing techniques include surface embroidery, tassels and a wonderful woven button. Of course we are offering our basic sock class and the ever practical finishing class, Fear of Finishing.
If there is something you want to learn that we haven’t included you could join the drop-in class or set up a private lesson. Maybe a you and a couple of friends have something you want to learn – we can set up a class just for you!

To find the calendar click on the classes tab at the top of the page. A short drop down menu will appear, click on “events calendar” and a monthly calendar will appear with the classes and events listed on the dates they are scheduled for. Click onto the date and class of your choice and more information and pictures will appear!
Classes
Sock, Socks, Socks
You will be everyone’s best friend once you learn how to knit socks. We will teach all the techniques you need to know while working with a worsted weight yarn. Come out and Learn the basics of turning the heel and grafting the toe!

Embroidered Travelling Stitch Scarf
Dorothy is a fabulous knitter and has been wowing us with her finishing ideas for years now. This scarf with its interesting edging and delicate details is Dorothy at her most creative. Based on the work of Anna Zilboorg – this scarf will impress any who see it. Learn how to create the edge treatwork and how to create the travelling sts pattern and then learn how to finish the pattern with the embroidery sts.

Andean Dreams Tea-Cozy
Bring your tea-pot and create a Cozy just for it. There is almost no sewing involved in this dreamy tea-cozy! From the tips of Flo the llama’s ears to the Loop fringe at the base of this cozy this class is full of fun techniques that you can apply to many other projects. The loop fringe is a classic start to mittens, and the flowers could be used to embellish almost anything else.
Learn the basics of simple colourwork and working in the round. Learn how to knit a loop fringe and learn how to knit mini flowers and tassels. This is a playtime class where your imagination sets the limits!

C.C. Slight
Learn the basics of cables, travelling sts and twisted sts while knitting this “slightly slouchy’ cabled cap. The pattern is mostly textural twisted stitch cables with a complex cable band detail. The top is finished with a “Wheelhouse Button”, a covered button woven with the yarn from your cap.

Workshops
Moebius Cast-on
This class focuses on the Moebius Cast-on. Cat Bordi really turned the knitting world inside out with this unique cast-on. Once connected and started you will be knitting in two directions at once with a natural 180 degree twist in your knitting. If you have her book A Treasury of Magical Knitting – pick a pattern from it and bring yarn and needle suitable to your choice. If you don’t have her book, check out the free patterns on line.
The small cowl we have sampled is one of her free patterns. Cat Bordi’s Free Cowl Pattern.
The large scarf/wrap sample pattern, Cloisonné Shetland is included with the class.
Saturday March 12th
Fear of Finishing
This stand alone class is a fabulous confidence builder that will leave you ready to tackle almost anything that needs to be finished. From perfect seams to one-row buttonsholes, and everything in between you will walk out of the class with a wealth of new knowledge and a comprehensive hand-out based on what you have learned.

Drop-In Classes
As well as the above formal classes we offer two drop-in classes every week. These classes are Wednesday and Friday afternoon’s from 4:00pm to 5:00pm and are geared for the beginning knitter or a for a knitter that needs to learn a specific skill. There are never more than 4 students in the class and we request that you call ahead to make sure that we have a spot open for you!
