When I opened the box from Diamond Yarns yesterday, I was dumbstruck – well not for long – I had to call Dorothy – she had to see what had just arrived!
We have been around long enough at Mad About Ewe to have, seen, touched, fondled and drooled over most types of yarns out there! But I had never seen anything like these…..
Rainbow Rolls – from Noro Yarns – round pinwheels of Noro colour – all twelve of them! I gasped, giggled and started planning. When I got home I dropped everything (I did have supper first!) and started playing with this new yarn!
Two wheels, one stacked on top of the other, so that I am working with two strands, a 6.0mm needle – I could even have gone bigger! And a simple chevron pattern…. I am in heaven!
Rainbow Rolls – Pencil Roving – a fat, wool, single, unspun, colour that moves through it’s own Rainbow. A little fragile, being unspun, but fabulous when knit – lofty, squishy fun.
Dorothy took some home to play with needle felting – it would be a stunning weft in a scarf – definitely not strong enough for warping. Can you spin? I can’t but imagine spinning your own Noro colourway!
Happy Dreaming! And Knitting! And Needle Felting! And Spinning! And Weaving!
