Now that we are into the full swing of fall, there are new items arriving every week. Yarns, books and fibre arrive on an almost continuous basis.
Last week saw the arrival of the 50th Anniversary Commemorative Edition of Elizabeth Zimmermann’s Knitters Almanac. This is a hardcover version of the original with updated pictures and one new pattern – the “February Lady Sweater” – a very popular take on the February Baby Sweater.
Also arriving last week was the Dover Reprint of Alice Starmore’s Aran Knits. Dover has done a great job with clear photo’s, some new, and a nice glossy appearance. For those of you who have seen it – this is where Emily got her baby blanket pattern for Darren. It was the “Maidenhair Shawl”.
New yarns include Windsor – a very refined tweed, in a wool mohair blend. We think that this will be a very versatile yarn and have knit up 3 swatches in different gauges to show you how!
Take a look at the new Rodeo, an acrylic, wool blend, tweed in mixed colours. Very soft and warm feeling – great for scarves.
For those looking for the unique in scarves, check out Frill Seeker, a 100% acrylic ribbon that will knit up into a very stylish frilled accessory.
Yesterday saw the arrival of King a new laceweight yarn from Noro, 6 rich colours that I can hardly wait to try out!
Hope to see “ewe” soon!
