Lynette is teaching
Cowichan Sweater – Learn how to knit a traditional Cowichan sweater and maybe even have it done for Christmas for someone special in your life. The sweater will be a traditional zip-up cardigan with a collar. This class will teach you how to carry colours in the Cowichan Style and learn how to insert a zipper. This class is over 4 weeks instead of the usual three to give us time to knit the sweater and insert the zipper. Samples are not available as yet, but there will be 3 motifs to choose from – each one co-ordinating with the hats from the Cowichan Toque Class – a whale, a wolf or a bear.
Materials: Depending on the size of the Garment – for a chest measure of 32in, 36in, 40in or 44 inches – 4, 5, 6, or 7 wheels of the main colour and 2 wheels of the secondary colour and 1 wheel of contrast; 6.0mm needles for ribbing, 7.0mm, 7.5mm (not common any longer – but some people do have them in their stash) or 8mm needles for the body, or whatever is required for gauge; zipper (we are bringing an assortment of lengths and colours); markers and the regular notions. Sweater is knit in pieces and then sewn together.
Cost is $65
