Have you noticed an increase in the arrival of new babies? It seems
that more and more of our customers are coming in with the news of a new baby, a child, grandchild, or occasionally, a great-grandchild!! Not to forget those nieces, nephews, friends having children, and, you get the picture. One person suggested that there is really no increase, that we notice babies more because of the arrival of Kianna (who is now 15 months old!). This may be true, but I’ve been working at Mad About Ewe for almost 10 years now, and I swear that there are more arrivals now than before.
One of the themes of our Fall Classes is “Stash Busting”, Dorothy and I have been working on small projects that only take a ball or two of something already stashed – though the first rule of using up stash is that you usually need to buy something to pull things together! I’ve just finished Elizabeth Zimmermans Baby Surprise Jacket, one of our fall workshop projects. I used 3 balls of Debbie Bliss’s Baby Cashmerino – I just wanted an excuse to try it out- and had enough yarn left over to make the matching Heart Hat from EZ’s Knitting Workshop – Too Cute!!
Did you know that the Baby Surprise Jacket is the most popular baby pattern on Ravelry. It out projects it’s competition by over 3000 projects posted!
