Fall arrived with a vengeance last night – wild winds and power outages – but we were all safe inside! Being fall it is time to warm up the knitting needles and bring on the hot toddies and hunker down for the season.
I know we are all thinking of Christmas knitting and wildly filling in our time with elaborate projects and lovingly made gifts for friends and family.
We at Mad About Ewe would like to offer up this Fall KAL – the Birch Bark Canoe Shawl , designed by Ruth Gallo of Todwick Studios. This is a lovely simple crescent shaped shawl, knit with one of our favourite yarns – Flyss , by Handmaiden Yarns. The Crescent is finished with a lovely feather and fan lace edging. This simple knit paired with a beautiful yarn will provide a break from more elaborate projects and create a gift for someone you love – maybe even yourself!
Dorothy started with some left over Flyss from another project, a gorgeous sweater; and decided to mix it up by adding another colour – you know – the first rule of stash diving – to use up yarn you have you need to purchase more yarn! LOL! It is turning out beautifully!
Right now we have a great selection of Flyss colours in stock, even some Peppercorn, the sample colour of the original shawl.
If Flyss isn’t to your taste we have many other options. As you know our selection of Fingering weight yarns is pretty broad! Or stash diving is always an option!
We hope that you will join us for the Fall KAL. The official start date is Oct 15, finishing is at your leisure, let’s say some time between mid December and early New Year. We love to see what you knit so please share with us on the Mad About Ewe Group Forum on Ravelry!
